CE823 POST-GRADUATE ASSIGNMENT

EE323 UNDERGRADUATE LABORATORY INFORMATION:

EE323 Undergraduate laboratory script:

The script is given on a week-by-week basis. (I suggest that you start with Week1 document and read the Introduction after the first session.):

Introduction to the laboratory and assessment details

Weeks 1 and 2 (University weeks 16 and 17) Familiarisation and scanning of remote hosts

Week 3 (University week 18) TCP protocol, packet sniffing and the dangers of unencrypted protocols

Week 4 (University week 19) Packet Filter Firewalls

Week 5 (University week 20) : No new tasks. But, there is a log-book check and chance to ask laboratory staff about any problems you have from the earlier tasks. But, here is a sample MCQ test for the week 21 test.

Week 6 (University week 21) : No tasks, there will be an MCQ test for the lab during the normal lab session

Week 7 (University week 20) Circuit and application firewalls

Week 8 (University week 23) Network Intrusion Detection

Week 9 (University week 24) : DNS


Week 10 (University week 25) Second MCQ test for the lab during the laboratory session

Important file to download

You will need this file to boot your UMLs  but note that you should "Right Click -> Save Link As ..." else it may download a large file to your Mdrive/Desktop and you may not want to do this!

To avoid problems with full M-drives it is probably best to save this file to the directory /tmp/ and use the "Browse" facility from um_linux_manager to open the "snapshot". The Week 1 script tells you how to use the file.
